Denmark's (and Norway's) ownership of Greenland is shaky at best anyway. They thought the island was theirs because they presumed their Norse settlers were there for centuries (when they had long since died off) and only in relatively recent years (after WWII) did Denmark change it's status from a colony. That being said, geographically and nearly all of its population are Canada-Inuit-based, so if anything it's really a Canadian Island, and therefore soon to be part of the 51st state!
