It’s the reality that shall unfold with RFK running the show.

Don’t worry, you don’t need to believe me now. I’ll be sure to ‘I told you so’ along the way.

@jon-nyc I'm comfortable that the benefit any inroads made against eating habits and T2 diabetes will overwhelm any measles deaths allegedly traceable to this administration. I do trust that you will focus on whatever you need to focus on, to rhetorically frame this administration as a disaster in any conceivable way, and I trust that you will take that more seriously than anybody else here.

I mean, I just watched you yesterday imply that you'd be supportive of it, if Trump was playing nuclear war brinkmanship. It's funny what you expect people to take seriously about your rhetorical realities.

      Education is extremely important.

Dude that was your strawman. You let it fall right after you built it. You don’t get to pretend to knock it down again today.

As for T2D and the SAD what do you really think he could possibly do?

@jon-nyc It's not a strawman, it's what you said. That you think it would be a good idea for Trump to play nuclear war brinksmanship with Russia. The implication being that you'd be supportive of that, which is an obvious departure from any shared reality of who you are, and how you think.

I am hoping for good messaging from RFK, and yes, I think popular culture messaging can make a difference. A small difference in that huge problem will obviously overwhelm any rhetorically claimed ties between measles and RFK.

          Education is extremely important.

Again ‘nuclear brinksmanship’ was your strawman. I was talking about merely putting Putin personally on the rhetorical defensive as a precursor to a real negotiation rather than submission.

Re public messaging, it boggles the mind to think we’ve been missing that.

Do you really think all these millions of morbidly obese Americans never recognized their own agency in their long march to metabolic dysfunction?

You can live in a world where Trump could have toed a perfect line exactly close enough and far enough away from nuclear war brinksmanship, where you'd have been supportive of it. The rest of us can wonder whether any such line could conceivably exist. (We're actually not wondering.)

And you can live in a world where pop culture messaging makes no difference because academic fact A or B is already out there. Again, awesome rhetoric, great world, glad not to share it.

That’s what we need, a pop culture that finally recognizes young athletically built people as beautiful.

Can’t believe no one ever thought of that.

I think there is consensus that much of RFK's time will be spent on food safety, food additives and a concerted effort to trim obesity rates.

I'm somewhat hopeful. I think there is a growing recognition among parents that healthy food is better than junk food, that cooked food is better than microwaved food and that playtime or sports is better for children than electronic stimulation.

I think there is room for way more messaging about the severity of the outcomes of T2 diabetes, and the inexorable path to those outcomes, with typical eating habits. The existence of facts out there in the ether is a far cry from a massive messaging and educational campaign, as the government is capable of. Especially if it comes from a respected source. (Respected by some, at least...) On the other hand, if TDS sufferers would like to get fat to spite the administration, they can do that too.

I mean, I guess Kennedy isn't totally wrong. I figured measles was more deadly than 1-3 deaths per 1,000 infections. Not that I'd want that risk for my child. I love the last FAQ btw:

The kids getting measles in Texas right now were due for their inoculations in 2020 and 2021. I’m sorry, but in 2020-21, “MAGATS” in Western Texas wouldn’t be aware or giving a damn what an East Coast Democrat (a KENNEDY, to boot) was saying about vaccines.

They would, however, be watching the rush to push an unproven vaccine onto kids for a disease that really didn’t affect them. They would be watching lie after lie being given by public health about COVID. They would have seen Fauci blatantly state that he would and has lied to the public in the interest of public health. That’s still the driver. Kennedy’s just hitchhiking along.

There are a few measles outbreaks up here. So far none locally or regionally. Despite virtually every kid in class when I was in grades 2 and 3 came down with measles I never did. Nor was there a vaccine back then in the early ‘60s. No doubt though I was exposed to the bug.

So yesterday I finally went to the lab and took the blood test for the measles antigen. Received the results by email an hour ago, they came back Negative.

Monday I’ll be going to the public health clinic for the vaccine. I don’t want measles at close to 70 years old.

                            Elbows up!

So, as I predicted/hoped, Kennedy is encouraging people to take the measles vaccine. This will surely land with more impact than a Harris appointee saying the same thing. How much impact? I dunno.
