Chicago with a little help

Chicago has always been in my personal top ten bands of all time. Most people didn't know that Terry Kath was a very accomplished bass player as well. You may wonder who is that guy playing guitar with them. That's Chicago's producer James Guercio. Peter Cetera wrote this song and finally realized that the verses were too low for him to sing so Kath took them, giving Cetera the bridge. Cool crooning by some Beach Boys here.

Great band, Chicago. Interesting how they went through several transformations in sound over the years. Too bad Kath died so young (and stupidly) His voice is "Make Me Smile" was incredible.
Have you heard the covers from Leonid and Friends? They do a great job.

and other drugs, he was half way a goner before that drunk night. He had blimped out and was on a fast road to nowhere. The drugs even convinced him it was time to take his act solo, that he was done with Chicago. I imagine it was heroin like everyone else. That drug can give the user such a sad outlook of their life to the point of suicide, although people say Kath wasn't there yet. They all adamantly aver he was just blind drunk that night.

Such a sad thing. I was all of 14 and had just started listening to rock/pop music and Chicago XI was one of the first 4 albums I bought. I think the others were Led Zepelin IV Steve Miller Book of Dreams and my favorite band for the next 2 years Kiss Alive 2.
Chicago XI was Kath's last album and i dug his voice and guitar chops. Jimi Hendrix called him the best guitar player he had ever seen. Here's a couple tracks from that album with Kath singing. Such a nice contrast from the high tenor Pete Cetera. Robert Lamm sang alot of their hits, his voice was in the middle. -

Chicago toured with the Beach Boys in the early 70's, I saw them at Shaefer Stadium.
If I remember correctly, both groups are huge Trump fans.
Summer 1975 to be exact. I was at their June 1975 concert at MSG with an old girl friend if I recall.

I saw them in Veterans Stadium in New Haven. They each did a set and then they played a set together. I also saw Chicago headline with Curtis Mayfield one time in New Haven too. I don't remember where--all I remember was that it was outside. Mayfield played first and half the audience got up and walked out when his set was over which left Chicago with a half full auditorium.
