I would imagine most of the positions they hire for are nowhere near the camera.
When I interned at the BBC you hardly ever saw a presenter. It was techs and dogs-bodies all the way down. Occasionally, this beautiful person would drift into view, catch site of all the sad-looking technicians milling around hoping to smell her perfume and rapidly exit stage left.
