I'm not entirely sure, but I think Trump has taken more questions from the press in 24 hours than Biden took in 4 years.

Someone will come up with a tally within the next few days.

Yup - For good or ill - he does "connect" with people as did Reagan - and Bill Clinton. One can debate who did more - did the best for the country - but Biden, like Hillary Clinton, not so good at making that connection.

I think Joe would have performed better before the dementia...

Even 50 year old Joe would have been shielded by his staff a bit. He was a talker but gaffe-prone.

Trump loves the spotlight, being the center of attention, and the ratings. It's like crack to him. And yes I think (untruths notwithstanding) he is extremely sharp, both in terms of thinking off the cuff, and recalling details, it's very impressive. A masterclass, to an extent.

Clinton was the same way. Visibly buoyed by the energy of a crowd.
I do a lot of public speaking in my role (much smaller scale obviously). I’ve experienced that sensation, but it’s far from automatic. These guys start feeling it before they even walk out.
