Saw the surgeon today. Yup right ring finger needs surgery, and though the thumb wasn't triggering today, it has in the past. He agreed to do both at the same time.

Gonna wait til after the holidays to get them both done.

    Sigh...

Crap - sorry to hear that - but hopefully, the surgery fixes things.

        At least there's a treatment.

It's really a nothing procedure. Local anesthesia (though he did offer sedation). My left hand hurt for a few weeks afterward, but I was able to return to the piano after a few months, much to the dismay of Mrs. George. I'm glad both are being done. He offered to inject the thumb again, but he said that if it recurs, and it's likely to, I'll need surgery. Only 1 trip to the OR is better.

Here's hoping for a fast recovery and a quick return to the priorities: piano, wifey, chicago pizza, Gkids, (cheap) scotch, movies, and schooling n00bs like me on TNCR.

How long is the surgery and projected recovery time?

I was in the operating room for one hour. However, 2/3 of that time was spent prepping the hand, and applying dressings. The tourniquet which was applied to prevent bleeding from the incision sites was only inflated for 10 minutes. In other words, it took about 5 to 6 minutes Per finger to do the repair.

Dressing comes off tomorrow, and I replace it with Band-Aids or some other exclusive dressing. There are two stitches and they come out on the 16th.

Last time I had this done, hand was sore for about five months after surgery And it really cramped my piano playing style. I imagine this will be about the same.

A friend of mine had this surgery about three months ago. Like you it was the second time round. He was surprised how much more quickly he recovered the second time. In ten days to two weeks he was more or less back to normal.

Wishing you an even speedier recovery.

Block has worn off. I'm taking 1000 mg acetaminophen q 6 h. Took some at 8:30 (pre-op) and some at 3 PM. Minor incisional pain 2–3 on a scale of 1–10.

Surgeon called in some Norco (Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen) at 9 AM to Walgreens. Not gonna need it.

He called it in at 9 AM. It took Walgreens until now (5:45) to fill it. Good thing I'm not hurting.
