I enjoyed the book, though it did tend to drag at times.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Watched the movie. Won’t spoil, but the cast was good, as expected. I found myself “predicting” various twists and wish it had gone with one or two I had in mind. I didn’t expect the resolution, guess you knew it with the book!

Terrible and embarrassing ending. The test was ok

Read the book, saw the movie. I liked it irrespective of the surprise ending , just because it’s one of those look behind the scenes depictions, the politics and infighting behind picking the pope, ironic how God’s vicar on earth is voted in by a very temporal process, but I guess that’s part of the theology anyway.

Agreed. All the machinations, factions and politics were intriguing to read about. Harris does pretty good research, iirc, so there's probably more than a grain of truth to this.

ironic how God’s vicar on earth is voted in by a very temporal process,

I've thought about that since I was about 10 years old. Not often, though, LOL.

Agreed. It felt very forced and out of nowhere.

I was hoping that Lithgow was actually innocent of the claims and it was a “8 moves ahead” chess move by Tucci to allow himself to become Pope by manipulating the dead Pope in his final days.

                      Watched it today.

Better than I expected, putting the ending aside.

All the intrigue, etc., was well done. Fantastic acting and cinematography. If it weren't for that, it would be about 2 1/2 stars. The technical aspects, direction and action raise it to three - just for the spectacle.

Not worth a second watch and the "surprise" ending seemed a cop-out so that "I can surprise you how this ends."

                      Good, not great.

Good review. I'm a big Ralph Fiennes fan (ever since Quiz Show), so it was fun to watch him lead this cast.

Ah I forgot that the terrific John Turturro was in that movie as well. I need to re-watch it.
