So I can tip 20% less now, and 40% less if I ever eat in a high end place!

      I was only joking

As an aside, our election season is still going on. We have 3 special elections in January that will decide the commonwealth’s House and Senate.

This should have been posted in the ‘More tipping insanity’ thread because that’s what it would lead to if actually enacted.

I wonder if my commissions could be turned Into tips?

Certainly this would incentivize employers to ask such questions.

Especially with ‘mandatory’ tips becoming more common.

Performance bonus, year-end bonus, quarterly bonus ... all these can be "tips."

The way to slow this down is to make sure tips aren’t deductible as an expense to the company, even if they are collected centrally and distributed via payroll checks.

What I don’t see is any kind of rationale. How is it that we’re not going to tax tips, but will totally tax the hell out of birthday gifts…

                        The rationale is vote buying.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
