That's me. My boss once told me 'you have to speak up - you can't just sit there pulling faces'. I didn't even know I was doing it. If I'd spoken, it wouldn't have ended well for me.

True story: I got pulled over in New Jersey by some real pieces of shit if you ask me. I forget what they said that caused me to laugh at them, but laugh at them I did.
They proceeded to empty my entire car, put me in the back of theirs in handcuffs and who the hell knows what would have happened past that. For whatever reason, they got me out, uncuffed me and just left me there with half my stuff still on the street in the dark. They sped off real damn fast.
That last is really the only part of the story that doesn't make any sense.

I had something not as drastic happen. Pulled over for speeding on Georgia Ave (MD) to only have a dipshit go screaming by and have the police just leave me. With no instructions… it’s weird AF

I performed that valuable service to an unknown driver in Napa CA in the early 90s.
And I successfully evaded the cop. It’s one of my 3-0 success stories in losing cops.
I’m so lucky I never spent more than one night in jail.

My hero! I'm 1-0. I was a dumb 17 year old driving home late from working at the movies. Probably around 1am. I turned right on red (the sign said no turn on red, but I didn't see any cars around). Immediately I see flashing lights turn on about 3-4 blocks behind me heading towards me, but as luck has it, I was just cresting over a hill and on the other side of the hill was a street I could turn onto, so as the hill blocked the cop's line of sight from my car for a few seconds, I turned right, parked, turned off lights... the cop drive by without realizing my trick. Hahaha what a LOSER. I briefly thought about beginning a life of crime at that point. but decided to go back and work at the movies the next day.

Not to nit pick, but you would have been continuing a life of crime at that point. Similarly, you are currently taking a break from your life of crime.
Considering the total statutes, laws, ordinances and HOA regulations currently on the books, I think it would be fair to say that we are all in some way, knowingly or not, continuing a life of crime.
And Horace, contrary to what you may hear out there on the streets, there is no such thing as a victimless crime.
