Indeed. I remember her too. I read the book before the movie came out. It was very instructive for a young man.

If memory serves, she was sorted out by Sonny Corleone on a number of occasions prior to him dying of lead-poisoning, before finally having surgery to correct some slackness in her feminine areas.
It's funny what I can remember.

If it makes you feel any better, the unbidden comparison between Lucy and J.D. Vance has pretty much destroyed those memories of my childhood.
