I had no agenda today. Nothing.

For some reason, I woke at about 1:30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep. Spent the dark post-midnight hours reading, etc.

Got up at 6. Coffee, email etc. Shower and get dressed.

Decided to binge some TV (Tulsa King). After a few episodes (at 1.25 speed), it was time for a pre-lunch nap.

    Aaahhh...

Have some lunch (corned beef hash), and return to Tulsa King....Is it time for another nap? Of course! This one lasted an hour....

Too lazy to cook, and neither of us was particularly hungry, so we grazed for dinner.

    Some cheap(ish) Irish whiskey.

Time to get to be in an hour or so.

    Why "retirement is great"?

Today was Saturday, but it could have just as easily been any day of the week.

A traditional camp breakfast down here is fried eggs and corned beef hash.

      Good stuff...

        Speaking of retirement...

I stay behind. I can't ever seem to catch up. I've got two oak trees I need to cut for firewood. I need to pick mustard greens. I desperately need to clean and straighten the shop. I need to paint fascia boards. I need to start on the outside Christmas stuff. I need to replace a light over the sink. I need to replace a ceiling fan switch. I need to work on the stove.

You know, a nap does sound good...😴

The job stops. The maintenance doesn’t. George has the right idea. Our manta is con-DO, con-DO….

In the midst of purging the garage in hopes of getting two cars in this winter. The Magic 8 Ball says unlikely.

Sounds like a great day George. I’ve always been a fan of naps, although they are rare these days. I remember distinctly during my college years taking some great naps by an open window in the spring.

Jolly, now imagine all of that but also with a winter countdown clock! Kidding, your work ethic and breadth of knowledge is legendary.

I’m 42 now, I plan to retire at 57. Maybe earlier if the market does above average.

Oh my wife said I’d get bored retiring early. Zero chance… aside from naps, I have so many books I want to read, shows and movies to watch. I want to travel, play golf, swim. If I got really bored I’d volunteer as an umpire or something for youth sports.

My work ethic sucks. I do know some people that do know how to work...

One of my wife's uncles died recently (the Marine) and his brother brought the SIL widow a 16 foot trailer load of wood he cut for her.

Junior also raises and sells dressed roast pigs. From now until New Years, that will keep him pretty busy.

Along with his regular 40-hour a week job.

Junior will be 80 on his next birthday ...

The trick is to keep moving, keep busy.

My winter jab was a half joke. This week we’re expected to shift into single digits. My neighbor is rushing to build a DIY backyard rink, I’ve disconnected my bibs, sump pump, put up driveway stakes, got my ethanol free 91 grade gas, prepped snowblower, moved outdoor cushions, prepped outdoor grill, lawn, winterized mower, clearing air exchange system, etc…….
