Yeah, it's subtle, but if you read between the lines, you can see he is not 100% in.
It breaks my heart when good friends grow distant. I hope, in time, they can patch things up.

So the best remaining explanation for the nomination is that it was to provide cover for his stepping down as a representative.
I mean, that's the best explanation that admits to any strategy to it. The other explanation, which may be occam's razor, is that Trump was unaware of the impossibility of confirmation, and nominated whoever he felt like.

The check's presumably in the mail. I'm not sure I'd use the term 'balanced' to describe RFK.
