    Premiers Sunday -

    Link to video

Looks to me like they’re playing a little fast and loose with the timeline. This looks to be based loosely on Sisterhood of Dune, but I wish they would have run with the Butlerian Jihad. This runs too stylistically close to Dune. I liked how how the Jihad looked more like traditional sci-fi and was recognizable to us, but over the course of the series you see perks and glimpses of the what will eventually be the very different universe of Paul Atreides…

Haven't watched it yet. One review says that the TV series really combines the narratives in "Sisterhood of Dune" and "Navigators of Dune."

Unlike many, I enjoyed the prequel books - though I haven't read them all. It's been a while, so much of the narrative is a distant memory.

      Have you watched it?

The duneiverse is hurting my head. I’ll stick to the movies for now.

          If you insist...

Of course, check out the David Lynch version. The one that aired on SyFy with William Hurt as Duke Leto was very close to the book as well.

@89th also, I've read that this series on HBO explains why there are no real computers in Dune, why fighting is done with swords, and the reason shields are the way they are.

Remember, the Harkonnens were the good guys at one time.

No. I think the premier is Sunday, and we will probably let them accumulate so we can binge through rather than watch week by week.

Like you, I liked the prequels very much. Far better than I liked God Emperor through Chapterhouse, but I particularly liked the Butlerian Jihad through The Battle of Corrin. I particularly liked how different they were from Dune and how they set the stage for Dune.

@89th not only were the Harkonnens good guys once upon a time, but one of Paul’s distant ancestors was one of the worst threats humanity ever faced.

The older I get, the more I enjoy the binge.

Prophecy is only 6 episodes the last one on Dec 22.. Hope it makes it to a 2nd (or more) season.

Honestly I think I’m just intimidated by the size of the Duneiverse in terms of story.
