Study Links Gas Flares to Preterm Births, With Hispanic Women at High Risk
Expectant mothers who lived near flaring sites had [50%] higher odds of giving birth prematurely than those who did not, researchers found. The adverse outcomes fell entirely on Hispanic women. -
Unless there's a reasonable scientific model that would explain such a causality, I'd say it's likely BS. You can't conclude much from such observational studies. There are a million possible confounding factors.

And unless the population is composed entirely of Hispanic women, why would the results fall "entirely on Hispanic women"?

Imagine a town with 1,000 women in it. 800 are white, 150 are black, and 50 are hispanic. Every afternoon all 1,000 women walk to the grocery store to buy some ham so they can make sammiches for their man that day. On their way home all 50 of the Hispanic women's tits suddenly go flat. None of the 150 black women's tits go flat. None of the 800 white women's tits go flat. Only the Hispanic women's tits go flat.
That night on the news the reporter says "today, 50 women reported that their tits went flat. It seems the problem affected entirely Hispanic women." Gonzo is watching TV and hears this. He turns to his buddy Bubba, picks his nose, and says "unless all the women in town were Hispanic, how do they know it only affected Hispanic women?"

@Larry The abstract of the study makes no mention of ethnic breakdown. The last sentence reads, "Our findings need to be confirmed in other populations."
So your elaborately crafted little playlet -- which features tits, one of the few subjects that can be reliably counted upon to keep your attention indefinitely -- though meant to be a simplified analogy to the news story, fails.
