Could Anything Have Been Done Different?

From the Democrat side that is.
Was VP Harris just such a bad candidate that the Democrats was doomed from the start?
(I think that everyone here pretty much thought she was a bad candidate from the beginning. Pats ourselves on the back)
What campaign changes could have been done? (Other than not having her as candidate)

OMG. Everything they did from
20162012 on. -
I don't think talking to Oprah about joy or having Beyonce and JLo stump for her meant anything, but there was nothing better they could have replaced that stuff with. I don't think Tim "weirdo" Walz calling the other side "weird" was a good look, but it will always be fascinating how giddily the Dems took to that messaging for those few weeks. (Disliking "weird" is typical conservative psychology, and the whole "weird" episode was strong evidence that the center left is home to middle aged and older cultural conservatives. Which makes perfect sense, since center left has been the dominant cultural attitude for their whole lives.) I think not picking Shapiro was strictly to keep herself from looking weak and stupid by comparison. But I don't think Shapiro would have won this election for her.

Did Biden sink them on purpose? I think so…

Harris had no chance. They tried her out for 2020 and she crashed an burned. Negative charisma. Her best chance would have been Donald Trump doing something negative to himself.... though he seems immune to that.
They used to opine about Reagan being the teflon president. He was a piker in comparison. Trump is, for whatever you may think of him, one tough mofo.

Couldn't say as I'd blame him.

Frankly, it’s kind of bothersome that the win wasn’t bigger

Biden the day after midterm elections could have announced it’s time to hand the reins over to a new generation. Maybe, just maybe, a proper primary would have produced a better candidate.
That’s assuming there was actually a better candidate available. A non-heavy liberal does not make it out of an honest and open democrat primary. The DNC had to intervene in 2016, 2020, and 2024 would have been no different. Remember that Harris was the olive branch given to Warren and all of the other more radical branch of the party to keep Bernie from getting the nomination.

At least an elected, not appointed, one.
Right… Just like the freely selected and non manipulated primaries of 2016 and 2020 … Wink…

A good start would have been not sending up trial balloons for taxing unrealized capital gains.
I don’t think 25 year old black and Hispanic men voted Trump over unrealized capital gains.

Tell you what did move the needle...One of Trump's most effective ads addressed the transgender issue, especially with guys on girl's teams and taxpayer funded transitions. It moved the needle 3% or more on every group it was tested on.
