He says there were 3 vaccines for kids and now there are 76. There are 15.

He says this is because of what happened in 1986. Back then, the under-5 mortality rate was 14 in 1,000. It has since been cut in half (7 in 1,000). I wonder why.

For autism, I have no idea but I bet the rates are increasing because of increased awareness and finer-tuned diagnosis requirements.

I bet there's positive correlation between mass shootings, being gay and vaccinations too.

The damage caused is almost certainly indescribable

    I was only joking

Yes. I get that some health professionals said or did things people don’t like. But I can’t complete the logical leap from ‘I don’t like what some health professionals said or did’ to ‘therefore let’s stop immunizing kids and let some die from preventable disease’

Is that some kind of revenge? ‘Hey, Mr Redfield, screw your masking lies, here’s some dead kids so fuck you’.

I'm quite surprised you can't see this.

      1. Dr. Jackass is my PCP.
      2. Dr. Jackass told me that if I wear a mask and get immunized, I wouldn't get COVID and wouldn't give it to anyone.
      3. I got COVID and gave it to my family. Dr. Jackass fed me a plate of bullshit.
      4. What Dr. Jackass told me mirrors what other doctors online and in the news are saying. But I know that's not true because I got COVID and gave it to my family.
      5. Dr. Jackass, doctors online and in the news also said to get vaccinated. But we all know they're full of shit now, so probably they're full of shit about this, too.

At the risk of being obvious—which I think we've thrown out the window already—I don't agree with the above, but for me it makes all the sense in the world how someone could be convinced of this line of reasoning.

      Please love yourself.

Wow. You give them less credit than I do. But if that’s the logic - they were wrong about one thing ergo they’re wrong about everything- why stop at vaccines? Aren’t they full of shit about chemotherapy and antibiotics too?

        Only non-witches get due process.

I didn't believe much of anything that was said at the time. No one had any reliable knowledge of the virus and its effects. All we knew was the nightmare in Italy and then NYC. It's very easy to sit back now and opine about overreaction, but the very real and not unreasonable fear was overwhelming the system. I know that I felt I CANNOT get this disease. Now I’ve had it four times.

As it turns out I only knew one person it killed directly, but I know my beloved MIL was basically imprisoned for two years which accelerated her dementia.

One big reason to not reelect Trump:

            • He does not attract the best and brightest to work for him.

More likely than not, Trump repels good talents and attract bad/incompetent people.

Completely agree - you shouldn't lie to people. But the solution is a couple of decades in vaccine science purgatory to atone for the CDC's politics in 2020? (under Trump's nose, no less).

Be more explicit - the CDC lied about masks therefore we’re going to put a generation of children at risk, many of whom will die.

Can someone - anyone - walk me through the logic here? Jolly?

                1. The CDC lied about masks.
                2. The CDC interjected themselves into the doctor/patient sphere and told doctors what they could do and what they couldn't do.

Look, I'm a huge proponent of public health and the powers needed to try to keep people safe. But the government went beyond where they should have.

                1. The CDC was not clear about the risk factors or efficacy of the COVID vaccines.

                2. The CDC lied about the probable origin of the Wuhan Flu.

                3. The CDC lied about funding for Gain Of Function research in Wuhan.

                4. The government fired people for not being vaccinated, long after we knew the initial vaccine was no longer effective against the newer strains

                5. Government officials were having dinner in fancy restaurants, when average joes were under quarantine.

I could go on, but the trust problem has been created by the government. They've lied so much, any health information is now viewed by the public with a jaundiced eye.

In fairness to Ax, I do not think he was referring to Covid vaccines.

Personally I do not understand this issue which continues to obsess the minds of some Americans and a mere handful of Albertans, including our brain dead Premier.

It's not just about COVID vaccines, is it? I'm guessing the distrust runs much more widely, and includes things like the measles vaccine.

                              Measles deaths since 1980:

It's not just the US, either. My brother and his wife had a good friend in Ireland who they met up with last year, and all he talked about for an entire weekend was the "Covid vaccine conspiracy" - basically, my brother said he won't hang out with him anymore as it was such a terrible experience as he wouldn't talk about anything else.

                              I was only joking

                                Fair enough.

The mortality (and morbidity) from COVID was really quite low.

Wow. You give them less credit than I do. But if that’s the logic - they were wrong about one thing ergo they’re wrong about everything- why stop at vaccines? Aren’t they full of shit about chemotherapy and antibiotics too?

I think some of 'em do in fact take it that far.

I don't know if this is related but for my part, I absolutely treat doctors differently now. Used to be, you could talk to your GP about what was going on with you, there could be a back and forth and you both would figure something out for what to do. That shit's way over.

I picked up COVID again last week. I had a 103 fever and didn't sleep for days it was so fucked up. But because I didn't say the magic words, my doctor charged me $105 so that he could tell me to take Tylenol. Nothing I said after I missed the magic words could convince him I needed anything else. Tylenol. No "let's follow up to make sure you don't get bronchitis," nothing. Fucking Tylenol would solve everything.

I tried the Amazon teladoc instead right after the call, did say the magic words, and I had Paxlovid proscribed in 45 seconds. I picked it up in an hour.

The magic words were that I had tested myself for COVID 3 to 4 days ago. Not that I had been sick for days but tested myself today, and definitely not more than 5 days ago—"tested positive 3 to 4 days ago" were the magic fucking words.

I get that they're overworked and there's an incredibly massive and imposing bureaucratic system weighing down on them, but part of the problem with this anti-vaxx shit is that like a lot of other things, patients no longer have close relationships with their doctors. This creates more distrust.

                                    Please love yourself.

That’s right. And I do agree that the efficacy, let alone the necessity, of the vaccine for people under 16 is rightfully debatable. In 2022 the vaccinated teen did bring into the house, felt miserable for three days and was over it. Gave it to his vaccinated mother and she went down for five days, mostly fever chills and brain fog. Ten days later I had a scratchy throat, a bizarre nasal congestion that would disappear the moment I stood up but no fever or headache and symptoms disappeared entirely within three days. The teen brought the bug into the house exactly 14 days following my booster. I would say the booster did its job very goddamned efficiently
