Early voting

I wonder how much it’s cannibalising Election Day turnout. Is the heavy early voting just shifting people up, or is it indicative of a deeper movement.
I get the efficiency argument, that if they know you already voted they can focus on others, but I’m not entirely convinced the push for early voting really helps.

We’ve passed 80,000,000 early votes. That’s essentially half of the 2020 electorate.
