You know, when people get wrapped up into this election and talk about "how bad things have gotten in America", I like to remind them to look up videos of 99% of the countries out there, and then get back to me.

Which of them are fascist? Look up fascist countries, then get back to them.

Hear hear. I always joke that in the US, the definition of poor is having a cell phone that is 3 or more generations from the latest.
For example, a 7-11 worker in Thailand makes about USD$1/hr.
I know someone who is lawyer and is a clerk on the Supreme Court for a judge. Basically, she writes the opinions that are issued and to a certain extent, helps guide how the judge will vote.
(Side note, I wonder how much is the same in the US. Probably quite a bit.)
Anyway, I think she gets about USD2000-2500/month.

In the US, a Supreme Court clerk makes like $50k a year. But after a year, they're often offered $400k signing bonuses and $200k+ salaries at law firms. Getting a SCOTUS clerkship is like a golden employment ticket.

Prestigious job here also, but it does not convert to a private job after that. Alot of them stay for a while as a Supreme Court clerk.
