ETA: "Many people are asking why SpaceX is catching the booster stage like this. Why not land on landing legs like their Falcon 9rocket?

The Starship booster stage has no landing legs. This saves weight and results in faster turnaround time to launch again."

A one in a million shot with a LOT of luck.

vs an expected result of engineering done by a bunch of highly qualified people

        not even close.

They sound like a bunch of teeny-bopper groupies. Paul is cute, but John is really ginchy.

Beyond cool. While not easy, it all comes down to physics… and lots of money.

It was quite a week for Elon - catching the rocket, announced he'll be selling robots in 2026, self-driving taxis, robovans, starlink-India, and who knows what else that I missed. All distractions from things from issues that might affect stock price - but amazing, nonetheless.
