Like 89, I too believe your observations and questions on this subject are valid and should be addressed rationally.
The influx of illegals affects virtually all Western states at this time. We all have skin in this game no matter where we reside or claim citizenship.

Meanwhile, "those neo nazis were some fine people" has existed for many, many years, and still makes an appearance in presidential debates the entire world watches. Something tells me your emotional reaction to that bit of fiction isn't quite on the level as this reaction. Hey we all have our biases, but outrage is rarely fairly distributed.
I hate to have to point this out, but I'm not the one being overly emotional here. If you can't see that, I don't know what to say.

Am I the only person here who sees that just making shit up isn't a good way to win an argument?
Twenty years here and you make THAT argument?

At this point, what difference does it make?

I am sure that those who truly believe in the pet eating moral panic are emotional. I'm not aware of those people, but I trust that they exist.

Indeed it would that some have moved on from subscribing to and disseminating Coffee and Donut shop gossip to Coffee and Pet Shop gossip.

It makes a difference to all the people tagged as racists who aren't.
Ever deal with a drunk? An obnoxious drunk?
Either you just walk away or if you don't have that option, you beat him. Not one of those one-lick and bounce around bullshit fights. I'm talking about you bring the Wrath of God and you whip that man until he can't get up. That's about the only two things you can do, since reasoning no longer works.
I'm afraid a lot of the country is becoming like this. Excuse me for being melodramatic, but people are just becoming tired of the bullshit. The woke bullshit. The racist bullshit. The inflation. The border bullshit. The Washington D.C. bullshit.
And Jon can laugh at me, but something is going to give. Whether the country swings right or left, I don't know. But I do know it will be driven by the middle-class and it will be carried out in a ruthless, efficient manner.
-
The "racist bullshit" made a headlining appearance in the middle of the world televised presidential debate, as Kamala trotted out the "fine people" line which paints Trump and by extension his supporters as cartoonish neo-nazi sympathizers. And the fact-checking moderators? They took a pass on that one.

You missed the point of my (admittedly smart-ass) post. I was responding to Horace's whataboutism with a famously taken out-of-context quote from the other side of the aisle.
I don't understand your resistance to accept that what Trump said was wrong. There is a real problem in this country and many others with illegal immigration. At the risk of being overly repetitious, making up stories about it really doesn't help.
If we want a serious debate, it might be an idea for at least one side to act like adults. This pet-eating bullshit is no worse than AOC breaking down in crocodile tears at the border, but that doesn't mean it's ok.

Here's what a lot of people are missing in the pet for food story...Trump didn't use the story because he knew it was a lie. Trump was using something he had read in the media, something that he could believe was true.
As someone who lived in a town with a large section of recently arrived South Vietnamese, where you couldn't find a neighborhood dog by dragging a porterhouse steak down the street, I understand the thought process. After all, hadn't there been ducks, geese and other tame creatures coming up missing?
So, here's the legs on the cat story...It may not be true but it wasn't something a lot of people dismissed out of hand. That's your story, the story of too many people, quickly moved into one area and the problems that has brought.
-
Had the perps been rural Chinese, Korean, or Vietnamese the story would have had much more plausibility.

Maybe someone who uses the term ‘fake news’ as often as he does should be a little more cautious.

Indeed, I would imagine the local goat population would be more at risk of Haitians than the feline or canine.

There actually have been a couple of goat carcasses found on Twilight Hollow in Charleroi… (actually Speers, just outside of Charleroi)

Has anybody actually watched the video from the Springfield town meeting? Beyond the one guy talking about them biting the geese head off?

How much to get them to come to Waterfront Park in my town?

A litter of kittens and 13 baby teeth.
