A new traffic light color?

For AVs. I read this but am not sure exactly how this will help. It actually is a direction for human drivers.

So much of driving becomes instinctive. You get very subtle clues about what a driver might do next and respond to them often without really thinking. It's key to defensive driving. I question whether AVs will be able to do that sort of predictive analysis.

I fear we are trying to find a problem for a solution. Mixing autonomous travel with manual travel is just asking for trouble. Maybe there should be (and will eventually be) dedicated lanes for autonomous vehicles.

A Clarksonesque solution would be to program newly purchased autonomous vehicles to drive off very high cliffs at the earliest opportunity. Two birds, one stone.

So very true. Sometimes you'll see a car that is just going the exact speed that you think "yup, they're about to put on their blinker" and then are proven right. Stuff like that.

It's just a matter of time for AI driving systems to get there. But it's going to take a long time.

I am okay with self driving cars. I think the although as @mik says, a human can look at the whole picture, they are equally balanced by the number of bad stupid drivers that should be replaced by self driving cars.
