You know, I think we were better informed back in the days when we had 30 minutes of national tv news, 30 minutes of local tv news, some radio news during the day and a decent local newspaper.

TV for condensed, important stories, radio for updates and newspapers for reading and thought.

Completely. Filled with the 5 W's, no? I grew up in the 80s so that's my reference point, but I do recall early on my news was mostly from local radio (WTOP) or the 7pm Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.

How important (or unimportant) is the wife (or husband) of the president do you think overall?

I think they have slight impact in increasing votes for the president and no impact on reducing votes for the president.

CNN seems to have made a big deal about it. They were so outraged by her absence that they devoted a news segment over it.

I attach next to zero importance to FLOTUS, unless she's steering policy.

But, that would never happen, amirite?

I think that they can have a positive impact with some voters, but pretty much none negative impact.
