Don’t mind Jon. That’s just the sheer frustration of seeing somebody ostensibly on his side do something colossally stupid and damaging to his core ideals and beliefs. It’s the same way a number of us felt on January 6, a few years back…

I don't recall any of us saying that the Jan 6 riot was a good thing. We've disagreed on whether Trump was responsible or whether punishments fit the crimes, but none of us were joyous at the event.

And I haven’t seen Jon overjoyed or even remotely happy about today. He’s frustrated, and I get why.

If he's not happy at Trump getting shot, he's fooled me...

Watching the video of the event, it appears that Trump quickly took evasive action - but I was surprised at how long it took for 1) Secret Service to get on stage and 2) get him off the stage. If that guy was a better shot, this might have ended differently.

It's not the movies.

Trump went down because he was grazed on the ear by a bullet... There's pain from the bullet and pain from the air pressure "slap".

The Secret Service acted fairly quickly AFTER they realized what was happening. They would not let Trump up, covering him with their bodies. If you listen close to the tape, you'll hear somebody yelling "Shooter down! Shooter down!"...The Secret Service did not let him up until then. They then shielded him all the way to the SUV.

You're right. The first video I saw was at a higher level - and I couldn't see the Secret Service who were there - immediately. The only one I saw from other angle was the guy who showed up 2-3 seconds after the shot.

The egg on the Secret Service's face is not securing the rooftop and I'm sure facts will be forthcoming.

If George's comment was correct and additional Secret Service was asked for and denied...Well, that's going to be interesting...

Fair criticism. Many of Trump's stances are fairly moderate.
