I think he did. Without this afternoon, tomorrow’s pundit shows would have all been focused, echoing, and amplifying the calls for him to drop out. It would have been over. The Biden dementia story just got moved to the back page, and by the time it comes back up, it’s likely too late to replace him on the ticket.

Now, I think it’s very likely that today’s events drove the nail in his November coffin, but it bought him a week at the least.

Interesting observation. You might well be right.

So that wraps up 2024 Presidential Election… Does it play down ballot?

Reagan’s approval rating went up 22% after he was shot.

I think Trump’s can only go up by 2.2%… That’s all the room that’s left…But it’s likely enough.

Watching the video of the event, it appears that Trump quickly took evasive action - but I was surprised at how long it took for 1) Secret Service to get on stage and 2) get him off the stage. If that guy was a better shot, this might have ended differently.

            It's not the movies.

Trump went down because he was grazed on the ear by a bullet... There's pain from the bullet and pain from the air pressure "slap".

The Secret Service acted fairly quickly AFTER they realized what was happening. They would not let Trump up, covering him with their bodies. If you listen close to the tape, you'll hear somebody yelling "Shooter down! Shooter down!"...The Secret Service did not let him up until then. They then shielded him all the way to the SUV.

Ok, I've rewatched that part four or five times. You're right, I'm wrong. Trump did go down on purpose.

Don’t mind Jon. That’s just the sheer frustration of seeing somebody ostensibly on his side do something colossally stupid and damaging to his core ideals and beliefs. It’s the same way a number of us felt on January 6, a few years back…

I don't recall any of us saying that the Jan 6 riot was a good thing. We've disagreed on whether Trump was responsible or whether punishments fit the crimes, but none of us were joyous at the event.

BTW, you reckon the Dems are going to introduce another bill to strip Trump of his Secret Service protection?

If it doesn’t contain an element of real blood lust, it’s not diagnosable as TDS, per the DSM.

You're right. The first video I saw was at a higher level - and I couldn't see the Secret Service who were there - immediately. The only one I saw from other angle was the guy who showed up 2-3 seconds after the shot.

The egg on the Secret Service's face is not securing the rooftop and I'm sure facts will be forthcoming.

If George's comment was correct and additional Secret Service was asked for and denied...Well, that's going to be interesting...

That's coming from the Trump camp. Take it for what it's worth considering the source.

I'm sure there are documented communications, right?

Congressman Ronny Jackson had gotten his nephew a seat on the stage for the Trump Rally Jackson says his nephew has a bullet burn on his neck, while a man was shot behind him.
