"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

We had some fireworks go off about a block from our place. Mrs. George said, "Isn't it early for fireworks?"

        "Nope. Today IS Independence Day."

My company is technically owned by a British company. No joke, my company sent a nice July 4th independence day inspirational message today. I am looking around and thinking... they do realize this holiday honors us kicking those limey bastards to the curb? No offense, Doc.

It's a little known fact that the British have a secret celebration, for reasons that should be obvious to you but probably aren't. No offence, yanks ✊

            I was only joking

Our town had it's fireworks celebration on July 1st, which is Canada day. I'm not sure why. Maybe they heard about me moving in.

Wife filled in for another church pianist during June. As such, she'd also rehearsed with the choir for the 4th celebration, which the church held last night.

Pure small town Americana. Patriotic songs. A reading of the Declaration of Independence by a local college history professor. A reading of the preamble of the Constitution by a high school senior. And the highlight of the ceremony was the Pledge of Allegiance, led by a lady who had received her citizenship that same day, as the flag was presented by a greyed man wearing a VFW cap.

Afterwards, we all trooped over to their Fellowship Hall for a fried fish supper, along with watermelon and ice cream. They even had a few fireworks at about dark-thirty.

                  It was a good night...

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton
