Ain't no AI generated film clips during tonight's debate. No way for the MSM to cover up for The Resident's 1000 mile stare or the mumblefest of word salad in his answers to the questions.
In short, the MSM has been covering for Joe, probably going back to his Cellar Campaign.
Does this move the needle on the public's perception of the MSM?

I watched the debate on DVR, so I saw the CNN anchor reactions afterwards. It was fun to watch the immediate report of "democrats are in pure panic mode now). Van Jones was near tears because "he loves Joe Biden as a person", other pundits were clearer... the Biden team and the Biden family need to EXPLAIN why they wanted Biden to be on the debate stage. They promised it would prove he's energetic, and that backfired BIGLY.

The question is who could they run? Harris and Newsome have zero chance.
WSJ:
What happens if Biden stays in the race?
Since Biden has enough delegates to win the nomination, if he stays in the race there isn’t a path for another candidate to become the Democratic nominee.
What happens if Biden drops out?
If Biden drops out of the race, the Democrats will nominate a new candidate at the Democratic National Convention, which takes place in Chicago this August.
How does that work?
All of the Biden delegates preparing to go to Chicago would become uncommitted delegates. Before the rise of primaries, this is how conventions worked: Candidates had to convince delegates to vote for them. The convention could become a campaign itself, likely to draw out divisions within the Democratic Party.
The Biden delegates slated to support him in August were approved by the campaign, meaning they are likely loyal to the president. This could make them more likely to cast their vote for whichever candidate Biden supports upon stepping down.
What about Kamala Harris?
Harris doesn’t automatically become the nominee just because she is vice president—the delegates have already been selected, so she is on the same footing as any other person. Still, her status in the Democratic Party and White House connections could make her a viable candidate, especially if Biden gives her his endorsement.
Anyone else?
The Democratic Party has a host of political stars, including California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. All have been vocal supporters of Biden’s campaign.
What if Biden drops out after the convention?
Once the convention ends, for the Democrats to choose a new candidate, Democratic Party Chair Jaime Harrison would need to consult with to Democratic governors and members of Congress before filling the vacancy.

I'm amused that the process requires Biden to do the right thing for his party and his country, at least by the consensus of circa everybody not named Biden or Harris. I don't think he's got it in him. This paragon of virtue will not be up to the task of retiring and relaxing in ex-president adulation for the rest of his obviously limited lifetime.

I recall RBG failing a similar test of character. I do believe, with quite a lot of certainty, that humans lose more with mental deterioration than the obvious verbal or logical abilities. They also lose higher aspects of human character, and veer slightly more towards lower primate style self interest.

Power (and the fawning that comes with it) is tough to give up for most people like a President. Those type of people forget that the power and prestige is from the position, not the person.
I have seen it where an "important" person leaves or their term is up, and comes back to say hello. Peple are happy to see them, but soon it is "hey great to see you, but I have to get back to work, etc."

IOW, they actually believe their own bullshit.
