I haven't been to a mall in about 3 years. And then, it was only to go to the Apple store to pick up an order.
I haven't "browsed" a mall in over a decade or two.

I have not see any data, but malls in Asia are still quite popular. Quite common to have multi floor city malls right in the downtown. These seem to be still doing quite a bit business. (At least they are still being built alot).

I enjoy the mall, I'm not sure why. I don't spend much, or even go into most stores. I think maybe there is some nostalgia deep down that reminds me of my childhood going to the mall, eating at the food court or playing games at Time Out (video game arcade). I especially enjoy it during the holidays.
That being said, I go maybe 3 times per year, usually one to bring the kids to see Santa.
Luckily a mall near us has thrived despite it being "traditional" like many of the dead malls that we see today.

I won’t buy my clothes online, period. The fits are always off and you can’t tell the material quality.
Actually, most of my shopping is brick and mortar, even if a lot of it is chains these days.. The “convenience” of online shopping just isn’t all that convenient to me.
Take the damn grill gazebo I mentioned. Karla ordered it on Amazon for Father’s Day. It looked nice online, but was a total piece of crap. And disassembling the few parts I had assembled and figuring out how to get the damn thing back in the box was certainly not convenient. Carrying the heavy ass box back to the curb for pickup was also not convenient.
If we would have gone to Lowe’s to buy one, I could have looked at the display model. Or when the employees are pulling the thing off the shelf for me, a guy might mention that there have been a few returns on those or he might point me towards a better model. If we had gone to an outdoor living spaces store, the cost might have been 3 times as much for something much better. But maybe they would have had a floor model 20% off…
Yeah, I’m okay with Karla ordering a few things here and there online, but I only want to shop in stores.
That being said, the only time I go to malls for shopping are holiday time…

Intentions were good, but I hear you. My wife sometimes has a good gift idea and she'll send me a link. Sometimes it's fine, other times I have to use a jedi mind trick on her. For example, for Father's Day she wanted to get me one of those walking treadmills for my office (yes I'm out of shape, but yes I've thought it would be good to have), so she sent me a link and asked me to order it (I have the amazon account so I place those orders). I quickly switched the order to a product that had better reviews, maybe $50 more, and a wider treadmill belt. So... by jedi mind trick, I mean... I ordered a similar but better product LOL.

I pretty well grew up in shopping malls. They seemed to always have a major grocery store and flag ship department store attached to them. Often dentists, doctors in an attached Professional Building. So this is where mom got the family food, we did our dentist & eye anppointments, and where we got everything needed for school. We were always with mom. When I became a teenager, malls were my dose of freedom, where I met friends and socialized in the food court. Movie theatres often were built onto malls then. That was our main entertainment as teenagers. When I was a young mom, it was the big toy stores, kids clothing, and the indoor kiddy play spaces (as germ laden as they are). I still like going to the mall for groceries and clothing. I like combining shopping tasks, getting it all done at once. I rarely do online shopping. My dentists are still in a major mall. Actually, my banks too.
