Endurance athletes aren't optimized for overall health. Their constitutions take a beating. I'm sure they're healthy compared to the average person, but not compared to what they'd be if they didn't push themselves to the limit over and over for years.

I'm not. They get sick far more often and the symptoms are much more severe.

It seems to me one often has to sacrifice general health to some extent to be "the best" at anything. :man-shrugging:
