Finley and I finished this project 2 weeks ago. I noticed it’s loaded up with a bunch of twigs and there are a pair of finches hanging around a lot…

That's great. We had our wrens make their nest in a pot again this year, but a racoon got them.

Finley is almost 5? Thinking back to my yoot, I have some memories of that age - vacation, a toy, etc.

Hopefully he'll have this as a memory.

That's great LD! We put up a blue bird (birdhouse) quite similar to that in late April. Some black-capped chickadees quickly built a nest of moss and twigs inside and a few weeks ago their babies hatched and left. Now I'm seeing similar birds (not blue birds yet!!!) that have been building a much more stick-based nest (similar to your picture). It's funny, it's right outside my home office window and lots of times the dummy birds can't figure how to fit a long stick through the narrow circular hole. Then again... it's impressive the nests built (including some robins and mourning doves around our house) without HAVING ANY HANDS.
