You know, they say you never know how much you use your back until a muscle is strained or other injury that reminds you how often your back is used for... everything.

Warning: Not a pity party...not a big deal. But last Thursday mid morning I got intense chills, haven't had these in like 25 years, followed by mostly dry-heaving into the toilet. Fun. Long story short, it was a combo of nausea, chills, naps, fatigue, no appetite, drink water and eat a piece of toast if possible... I almost felt loopy. Probably took like ten 20-min naps each day, this lasted Thursday and Friday, better Saturday, but returned hard last night. Finally woke up today with the fog lifted.... what a relief.

I'm guessing some form of stomach bug? Either way, I once again re-learned the value of going to bed early each night and not eating/drinking late at night. Maybe I can keep this up and even shed some of this dad bod weight.

Somewhat related, not sure if I mentioned it here, but since January my right ear has been giving me issues. In short, it feels like a little pressure (sometimes worse than others) with sounds muffled as if you closed your own ear by 50% where you can hear your voice "in" your head as you talk.

Went to ENT in March, found nothing...no infection, no ear drum issue, did hearing test which apparently came back with flying colors (my wife didn't like that since she claims I have hearing issues LOL), but during this last sickness spell it was bad again and made the whole experience worse.

Normally it would be tolerable but with 3 kids yelling around you or asking daddy daddy daddy for stuff with each word being like a soft mallet to your head? Not fun.

Maybe it is Eustachian tube dysfunction? Going to try the no drinking (booze) and better sleep for a few weeks now to see if it helps the pressure.

Stomach bugs are no fun. Neither is getting old. I've cut back on the beer too of late, definitely a good idea.

As far as the ear goes, could it be allergies? I go almost completely deaf in at least one ear pretty much every year. It never used to happen, but I figure the New England pollen is worse than anywhere else I've lived. Then it clears up by itself almost overnight.

        I was only joking

Sorry to hear! Maybe allergies... I tried steroid pack in January (no change) and then in March they said just to take Xyrtec and Flonase each morning for a few months, apparently that has helped similar cases. I'll give it a few more weeks then back to the ENT...

New state, new pollen, new allergies.

Plus, you're getting older and starting a gradual decline in the immune system, eventually leading to death. ⚰️
