The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Years from now it’ll be normal. But it currently still feels weird and a bit of an abandonment of tradition.

        An abandonment of the obvious.

Future generations, and current generations, will wonder why.

Everyone welcome is not always a great goal.

France during WW II for example.

The Scouting brand in this country long in decay is in my opinion, quite dead. Started back in the 70s when paid bureaucrats with degrees in Parks and Rec took over the various regions and supplanted dedicated volunteers. Resulted in a steady decline in membership and loss of the spirit of volunteerism.

Our son never joined. Took him to one Cub Scout meeting and he refused to attend another. Instead we enrolled him into a very traditional Okinawan style (Chito Ryu) Karate Dojo when he was six. He has been at it ever since and will be grading for his First Dan Black Belt sometime in autumn. He is the only student remaining from the class of 30 kids when he began in 2013. He was slated to pregrade two weeks ago but the chief Sensei came down with shingles and everything got postponed.

It is a traditional Dojo run by dedicated volunteers and all belts are earned through dedicated long term commitment to hard work, perseverance and respect. The way it should be.

          Elbows up!

I suspect earning your badges in scouting is a lot easier than it used to be, but I don't know. It was one of those things that wasn't broke, so they fixed it. We had a ball.
