I do understand the background of this bill, but how can platforms really check a minor's age?

Social media can be incredibly harmful, I have no problem with this. I fear for when my kids are older and exposed to the internet.

Like your great grandparents feared exposing their children to radio, your grandparents feared exposure theirs to TV, your parents feted exposure you to video/computer games ... more likely than not the next generation will turn out OK despite exposure to whatever you fear. 🙂

Radio doesn't rewire your brain. TV can, but access is easily controlled.

Radio does rewire brains, just ask Goebbels.

I don't think this is something you can legislate away.

And whatever happened to government not interfering in the way we bring up our kids?

              I was only joking

Apparently this is something different. Not sure what, but different in a good way. Or so we’re led to believe.

Maybe they should ban kids from going to church/mosque/temple until they're old enough to make an educated decision for themselves. Religion rewires the brain, too.

As long as they're Christian, they'll be okay. As for the Jews, those have a shot at being one of the 144,000 preachers from the 12 Tribes.

Horrifying. I'm starting to see this up close. There are a couple of very anxious pre-teen girls in my extended family. Very hard to walk them back once they're there. The parents are trying hard.

I guess that Larry would agree that the derogation is well placed

He might also point out that a lack of religion includes a lack of redemption.

I'm actually very sure that social media is a bad thing for teenage girls in particular. I'm just not convinced that legislation is the way to fix it. I'm also rather amused by the lifelong committed conservatives such as desantis who think you can legislate your way out of this.

Banning shit is rarely a good way to persuade kids away from doing it.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
