Probably getting extra crowded with the cherry blossoms blooming...

BTW, I've said this to every DC visitor. Although you're no n00b. If you can, please get up at like 530-6am and go to the Lincoln Memorial. For about an hour you'll have nearly the whole place to yourself. It's amazing. Jefferson Memorial, Capitol grounds even... basically empty. It's a magical time to visit DC before it gets hot and crowded. I ran many training miles up and around the National Mall... loved it.

      Yes.

The first time I visited the Mall I was driving from Boston to Dallas. I made a brief stop to see the Mall. It was about 9:00 PM and mid-December. From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial there was nobody else in sight. I still remember the sight of the Capitol and the monuments lit up.

Thanks all. Done for today, have a slew of meetings lined up for tomorrow. Energy and Commerce committee had to cancel but we’ll Hoover up more members for our bill we hope.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

Walked by Bowman’s office. I wanted to take a picture of the front of his office but it would have been awkward.

He had a big sign with names and faces of the hostages saying bring them home. He had a small poster saying keep the children of Gaza safe. It was smaller that the hostage photo but placed above it.

Also his name plate reads “Bowman, Jamal Ed D.”

Regardless, any reference to sucking power is probably an unfortunate choice to describe lobbying.

Most have a couple flags, maybe a sign supporting some cause. This guy has a bit more.

I think we’ll sign him though. Good meeting.

That is just as problematic as the Squad entries. American Flag, State Flag, nameplate. That’s it.

The majority of them have just that. And if there’s a sign it’s either ‘welcome we’re open’ or something rah-rah about their state like a state Uni banner.

Got two new cosponsors already. Both in the R column, which we most need to keep some sort of balance.

Hoping for 5 from this trip, 7 as a stretch goal.

No it isn’t realistic to get leadership as a cosponsor for a tiny bill like this.

We met with Vern Johnson, who I believe is the ranking GOP member on Ways and Means. That’s probably a stretch. He probably considers himself umpire not player on things like this and would be unlikely to sponsor us. But it is worth a try. It would be a coup to get him.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

Keep in mind there will never be a vote on this bill per se. Our path to passage is to get 100 co-sponsors or so and get it attached to a must-pass healthcare bill and figure it’s too small to get cut during the back and forth of negotiations.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.
