@Jolly said in Another Romney bites the dust.:

If the election were held today, going by RCP averages, Trump wins with 292 Electoral votes.

Yeah and Hillary was supposed to crush.

Now, a lot can happen between now and November. The economy could go in recession, Trump could be convicted of something, Biden could be found walking on Pennsylvania Avenue wearing nothing but Depends, so nothing is in stone.

    LOL

But to say Trump is definitely going to lose, is a bit of wishful thinking.

Yes Biden could die, or Trump be in jail, or something... but right now the economy is doing better, inflation is going down, stocks are all-time highs, and as I've said before, since Trump lost in 2020 by a few million votes, and since then he's had an election loss tantrum and many legal issues, I don't see any "new" voters coming out for Trump. So not only do I think he loses again but he loses by an even bigger margin. And believe me, I do not want Biden to serve another 4 years.

This is the key. President Trump has not done anything to win new voters. He has made his "base" more passionate, but they were already going to vote for him.

As 89 says, as much as people bash the economy, it is doing better. I think President Biden will do something on the border, which will take away another talking point.

It will only highlight that he has done severe damage on the border.

      Trump has not done anything

Mr. Trump has been busy non-stop preparing to make this country great again. And the voters love it!

I think there are some people who vote based on how the last 4 years felt - regardless of anything the President actually did.

There are some people whose lives felt better in 2017-2021 vs. 2021-2024 - and may vote Trump based solely on that.

That is a good point, although how many of them voted for Biden and are willing to make the switch? Maybe a trickle of folks, but I can't imagine it's a swarm of vote switchers.

Doesn't take a swarm. Probably takes about 500k votes total, spread among the right states.

Secondly, I've heard more than one Democrat say they're not voting for Biden. They're not voting for Trump, but they're definitely not voting for Biden.

Well, it sounds as though Biden's losing Louisiana.

But, there is a pretty good chance that some President Trump voters will not vote for him and vote for the Democrat nominee appointee for President. So, they may cancel each other out.
