There was some kind of owner/slave relationship like that in their family trees.

I don’t get the idea of reparations anyway. A sudden influx of cash based on your skin’s melanin level? I’d imagine it wouldn’t be spent or saved wisely by most. That goes for any race btw.

The real reparations have been in place for a while in the form of black grants and black admission and hiring preference.

I think the idea is that most American blacks are the product of relations between the slave owners and a slave.

Yes. Heritage African Americans (by which I mean not recent immigrants) average something like 18% white ancestry. That’s almost entirely due to genetic admixture between slaves and slaveowners or other whites working in the environment.
