      Is it really necessary to have the hood ornament retract? How much does that add to the car?

        I think Rolls has been doing that forever.

          It prevents it from being stolen.

            Most Rolls I see aren’t being parked in places where the hood ornament is at risk of being stolen…

              When I was a kid, stealing a Flying Lady from a Rolls Royce was considered the pinnacle of auto-souvenir hunting. They do not come off at all easily, or so I've been told.

              I was only joking

                The slightly-more-ambiguous way of phrasing that is: “I have it on good authority that they don’t come off easily”.

                    @George-K 😂

                    But I guess someone who can buy a USD$32MM car is like me buying a USD$15K car.

                      It needs a few stickers to show that the owner cares about social justice, supports the troops, or is proud of his/her kids.

                        We had the same thing with Mercedes stars.

                        Everybody who was "cool" had a stolen star on his bunch of keys.
