Most Rolls I see aren’t being parked in places where the hood ornament is at risk of being stolen…

When I was a kid, stealing a Flying Lady from a Rolls Royce was considered the pinnacle of auto-souvenir hunting. They do not come off at all easily, or so I've been told.

The slightly-more-ambiguous way of phrasing that is: “I have it on good authority that they don’t come off easily”.

We had the same thing with Mercedes stars.

Everybody who was "cool" had a stolen star on his bunch of keys.
