I'd definitely vote for Donald Trump for a billion dollars. Possibly twice.
Hell, I'd even be tempted to vote for Nigel Farage for that much - from the safety of another country, obviously.

No, not really. I hardly do anything via the phone any more - it's all video link, which can be recorded, or email.

At a certain level (and it wasn't much level), I swam with sharks. I recorded every in-person office conversation and several of the phone calls. I also saved any important emails to thumb drive.

Parties do this all the time, encourage some and discourage others from running.
Offering support, including financial support, in a future gubernatorial election if they sit out a senatorial election is not uncommon, I would think.
