Didn't @Klaus buy one of those?

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

@George-K said in $60,000 to replace battery. The battery costs more than a brand new car!:

Didn't @Klaus buy one of those?

And does he have $41K Euros in the budget for the replacement battery?

I intended to buy one of them. I'm glad I canceled the order and bought a nice BMW gasoline guzzler instead.

Max battery price on this list $25K USD, not even close to $60K CAD ($44K USD)

          $15K here

          https://www.cars.com/articles/how-much-do-electric-car-batteries-cost-to-replace-465308/

          $20K here

I won't be buying anytime soon.

I know it will never happen, but it would have been nice if, from the beginning, batteries compartments were somehow standardized. Kind of like a light bulb outlet or something like that.

My start up goal was to have a company that provides battery swaps for cars. You never "own" the battery, just "rent" it. Electric cars would be much cheaper to buy, since you dont initially pay for the battery. You would pull into a "battery station" when your charge was down, the discharged battery would be removed, and a fully charged battery would be inserted. Zero charge time. Just like filling up your car with gas. Maybe in a parallel universe, this is happening.

I think it is clear that current battery technology is no good for the long term. It has to be replaced by the miracle battery.

The miracle battery should be along any day now.

I had the exact same idea!

                Great minds. 👍

I think that would be a great idea. Now how do you get the vehicle manufacturers to play nice and agree on a cross board standard?

                  Elbows up!

I guess is that this would be technically rather challenging. Batteries are very big and very heavy. Getting a huge 700kg battery pack in and out of a car, fixing it such that it is crash-safe - I guess that' difficult. Also, you can't "hide" the batteries anymore in all kinds of places in the car - its design would be very constrained by the replaceable battery.

It's not exactly a novel idea. I think many people tried this already...
