I bought a new lamp for my piano. I wanted something which would allow me to control the brightness and had a cleaner look than the "traditional" clip-on-the-music-desk" model that I've had for...15 years.

Found this puppy at Amazon. It's lightweight, clean lines and has multiple controls. You can adjust the warmth of the light and its brightness. Even has a timer to tell you when to stop annoying the management. For $40, I did pretty good. It comes as either a clip-on or with a base.

I like that the arm is flexible and you can extend it so that it illuminates the keys as well as the music desk.

I put it on the Roland to see what I think, but it'll end up on the grand, I believe.

By the way, I was using another LED light on the Roland. It is fine, but the "clip" that holds it to the music desk is a bit on the thick side. Not really a problem, but I would prefer something that's more flush like the new one.

This one is battery-powered (rechargeable) and has two swing-out banks of LEDs. I never took advantage of that.

I have a growing collections of these lamps, I haven't found one that fits just right.

I have one that looks like the first in this post. But the screw-to-tighten clip can't close enough to get a good grip on the music rest. The one that you have has a better clip on the lamp. The "covered eva soft material" makes the difference.

What I like about it, besides its long neck and other features, is its width.

It's 15 inches end-to-end, and that will illuminate any sheet music very nicely.

The previous one was only 10 inches. Serviceable, but not as nice.

And, considering what fancy-schmancy piano lamps go for these days ($200 and up) I figured a $40 experiment was worth it.

Nice find! I think the control of the temperature is nice, too. I'm a big fan of the warmer temps these days.

After having it for a week or so, what do you think?

Love it. The on/off switch is a bit awkward to find if it's dark in the room. However, the lighting is great, and I love the flexible neck on the grand.

                      No shadows.
