I figured a student did it as a prank/protest. If the school actually did it...

That school needs to immediately lose all Federal funding and state and local should consider doing likewise.
The US Flag should not be removed for anything.
I agree this should not have occurred. Indeed it should not have even been given any consideration by the school’s administrators.
Why not have the school board just fire the principal who allowed it to fly in the first place? If there’s a backlash to that action then close the school indefinitely and disperse the students. Should be contained to a local governance level.

Oh, I agree that firing the principal would be an acceptable solution. I also think it ultimately needs to be handled on a local level. But it’s the nation that is being insulted here. So having the Federal Government threaten the funding is perfectly acceptable.
By the way, this would be the same if it was an Israeli flag. This has nothing to do with the purported cause.

If I were president I would treat them just like any enemy of our ally Israel.

Musk agrees with anti-semitic tweet!
Meanwhile, the point is obviously that western progressive Jews have been on the side of oppression narratives all along, which just so happen to be the narratives that propagate the hatred of "white oppressors", such as Israel.

At a glance I wouldn't say Elon or the tweet was "anti-semitic" the way people throw that term around. More of an observation of the irony or hypocrisy of the liberal jewish cohort when the tables are turned.

Let's not make the Jews into yet another group that must not be criticized lest ye be labeled a bigot. We've seen what that reaps here.

What a clusterfvck around that tweet. Everything was prompted by a commercial with a heroic dad making his antisemite son come face to face with the antisemitism that he’s been spewing online. Fine, except the dad and son are white and possibly rural (driving in a big ol pickup truck, ya’ll), which pissed off some white and rural folks who felt that the ad painted rural whites as being antisemitic and bigoted while the real problem comes from the black community, the Arab community, and the white liberal women community. Okay, fair point…
Then the real antisemites showed up and it went downhill quickly…

"….,, but what about the Palestinian kids?"
My answer to this very question from people I encounter the past six weeks, has always been:
“That is a question only Hamas can answer and be held fully accountable.”
In each instance, one can hear only a pin drop as a response.

Everyone seems to forget that Israel was a (one-sided) participant of a cease-fire.
It ended in the morning hours of Oct. 7.
