@LuFins-Dad said in The beginning of the end for Joe:

Joe Biden will be the nominee until the Convention. Then he will announce his retirement at the end of the term and the delegates will need to vote on a replacement. As the delegates at the Convention will be Joe’s, they will vote for his recommendation. Since the Convention is at the end of August, this gives the RNC only 2 months to campaign against the successor.

You know, that's actually pretty smart.

Too smart. I wish they'd do it, but they won't.

      https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4294394-axelrod-suggests-biden-drop-out-of-2024-presidential-race/

Former President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod on Sunday suggested President Biden drop out of the 2024 presidential race in the wake of a new poll showing the incumbent trailing former President Trump.

“Only @JoeBiden can make this decision,” he continued. “If he continues to run, he will be the nominee of the Democratic Party. What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it’s in HIS best interest or the country’s?”

He’s losing his only argument for running again.

Well put. Dropping out would be better for the dems but it’s hard for a president to give up the feeling of power.

Although we need to see how these polls endure. He lost 11 pts among Dems in the last month due to strong support for Israel. This war won’t be monopolizing the news 6 months from now or even 3, most likely.

I'm shocked that his support would drag him down. I would have thought his handling of it would be a plus. It has been with me. What does this tell us about the party?

I would have thought it would help him with independents but hurt him with campus lefty types.

I'm not sure he's as weak as you might think. We've never had an election between a guy so feeble and a guy so hated. Conventional wisdom is of little use here.

Interesting. Take away the negative brand equity of Biden and Trump is demolished a second time.

This is the same polling outfit that showed Trump ahead of Biden in many swing states.

Is it just me, or would the world be a better place if both of the current leading candidates fell down an open sewer? and twisted their ankles so severely they were forced to retire and go and live on a farm in the country?

                                I was only joking

We could tell all the idiots who support them "Sorry, but Donny/Joey hurt themselves, so we sent them off to live in the country where they'll be happy and be able to count the sheep all day".

Meanwhile, they'd be locked in a nursing home eating boiled cabbage and medicated out of our misery.
