Maybe shooting for is not the best choice of words. 😆

I gar-rawn-tee there was at least 25 church folks packing at that event...Wouldn't have been any problem, as long as everybody's aim was good.

The count was 49. A little light, but is the first cold night.

We organized a walk around town with some parents and grandkids—about a dozen of us. They came here and ate, then we hit the streets.

Pretty much everyone in town was into it. A few of the houses, you had to walk through from the front to the back because they did a haunted house kinda thing. Others even had an "adult candy bowl"—airport bottles of crap like Fireball and Halloween-themed whatever. (The stoner kids up the hill had edibles.) Some town council folks decorated a golf cart like a pirate ship and did the Jack Sparrow thing, throwing out candy to the kids as they "sailed" past.

Let it not be said these folks don't know how to do Halloween.

            Please love yourself.

Well this is bad. Finley came back with more candy than I handed out…

We had a good 90 minutes of constant kids - probably over 200. It was great fun. Our development is pretty much the first one coming in from the countryside, so anybody living out in the sticks is going to come here, and plenty from elsewhere.

                I was only joking

This is from last year when we had 180 treaters.

We only had fewer than 50 this year.

Just blew the driveway and sidewalk clean of the usual massive leaf piles. It'll be close to freezing so I don't want any slippage.

We're expecting around 60. We have Halloween theme ziplocks with Swiss Miss Cocoa with marshmallows, orange icing Oreos and a Rice Crispies Treat.

No eggs for us. What extorted foodstuffs treats are you handing out?

I cut the grass on Monday, all the decorations looked great (graveyard in grass, spider webs, skeletons hanging, etc) but we got snow overnight so I also had to clear the driveway/walkway but from SNOW... was dry by the time folks came around.

We took our 3 kiddos (5 mermaid, 2 firefighter, infant unicorn) out and they had a great time. They like giving candy out even more than getting it, so we came back and handed out for a while. They had fun.

Our neighborhood is 19 years old so lots of homes have young families moving in as older families downsize their empty nest, so each year more decorations go up, purple and orange lights, and firepits. Good times... and I quite enjoyed the 32 degree chilly weather, felt festive. Last year in the 60s didn't feel too bad, either.

This is random, but I came across this reddit post. I LOL'd, and can't disagree!

                          https://www.reddit.com/r/minnesota/comments/17lfenx/go_big_halloween_2024/

Halloween seemed lame this year. Many felt it. Kids felt it. I live in a destination neighborhood and we were down. Not even the rascal teens were out. Then I see the Rec center Como St. Paul PACKED. Trunk or treat. My god. What a horrific DESECRATION of Halloween. Just buy a bag and go home if that’s what you’re gonna do. Hell, order it from Amazon. Then you don’t have to do shit! Trunk or treat… 10 minutes of kids going to strangers cars while sit in your car playing bloonstd6. Sweet game but that’s lame. Probably the lamest. You run around your neighborhood, in the dark, on Halloween. You scream and yell and run through yards. Parents hand out candy. None of this help yourself bowl bullshit. Goddamnit it’s one night! The best night of the year for kids. On par with Christmas Eve…yeah… that’s right. And we’re ruining it!! Trunk or treat…meet a neighbor for once in your life. We know the names of all middle eastern leaders, who played spider man after Toby McGuire and the second string running back for the Titans but not the name of the guy who lives two doors down.

Now, You see a lot of memes out there ripping on younger generations being soft. Wearing helmets. Playing vids. Afraid of this or that. But you know what, we’re their parents. We’re the softies. They didn’t buy the bike helmet, and they sure as shit didn’t drive to the trunk or treat at Costco.

I’m doubling down next year. Full bars. Big bags. Real barbed wire.

The church we used to go to in Foxborough used to do trunk or treat. I figured they were trying to avoid references to Satan or something, but it was harmless enough. Going around the houses was a lot more fun, particularly when I used to bring a flask of something warming.

Our goblins were quite charming last night, thankful and talkative. It was really nice, and we only had one group of teens.

We had a mini home invasion. A little tot jumped over the step and charged down the hall. Her mother didn't quite know what to do. Fortunately, she took one look at our messy dining room and ran straight back out again.

                                It was hilarious.
