Show White Privilege and the Seven … Whatever They Identify As

@Axtremus it doesn’t matter how much it makes at the Box Office. They may find this quite profitable on the short term. In the long term, they just took a product that they have been manufacturing, selling, and promoting for 70 years and have made billions upon billions of dollars on and sold to billions and billions of children, and allowed a movie to be made that took a crap on the whole thing. believe there will be unintended consequences for the company from that.
@Doctor-Phibes You’re absolutely correct that Disney does not own the story of Snow White and there have been dozens of different variations of Snow White out there by different writers/producers/studios. I’ve got no problem with that. I’ve even found many to be pretty amusing and well done. I also have no problem with Disney coming up with an idea that stands one of their own movies on end and change everyone’s conception of that story. Maleficent stood Sleeping Beauty on its head, was different, enjoyable, and successful. I’ve got no problems there. I do have a problem when the writers/producers/cast are rolling their eyes when discussing the precedent that is making their work even possible. This lady has done multiple interviews and has repeatedly demeaned the original Disney film. I’m no great fan of Snow White, but that’s offensive. Sorry.

They scrapped the script and even the “7 companions” premise. Brought back the dwarfs and are writing a more faithful script. Dinklage must be having a conniption.

After all the starring lady had previously said, I wonder how she will respond to this. LOL

First, I hate/love watching that video George posted. She is SO SMUG before she even answers the question, and even more smug after she gives her cute little "it's no longer 1937" line. Well guess what, maybe it should be 1937. Cultural/media/society morals were better. Not perfect, but better than the wasteland that we see today.
Second, can we pause and even ask why she's all about snow white "being the leader was was born to be?" Most people would be better off being a good person they are born to me, and most people are absolutely not meant to be a leader. Not in a bad way, but why is there such an emphasis on being a "leader"?
Third, so they went from a production that had 1 dwarf among 6 other magical creatures... to ANIMATED dwarfs? Somehow Disney has gone from employing 1 dwarf to now cutting that acting role completely.

Not sure I'd agree that 1937 was that great compared to today.
The two bright spots were probably the Snow White movie and The Hindenburg,

Bro how many humanities classes did you sleep through.

She's the daughter of the freaking Queen, you numpties. Obviously she's the leader she was born to be (subject to Prince Philip saying it's OK, obviously)
If the Grimm boys had wanted her to be common, they'd have made her a shoemaker or a prostitute or something.

They didn't create the story, they helped codify it by writing it down.

... who also aspires to singing/songwriting and coding once Disneyfied.

OK, but it was written down over 100 years before Disney, and I'm guessing she was most likely a princess before that.
I do think it's a shame that Disney didn't feature the evil queen donning red hot slippers and dancing until she dropped dead at the end of the movie. That's freaking inspiring leadership!

She was indeed, and it's integral to the story. Quite obviously she wasn't a princess "only because some guy somewhere in history" arbitrarily made her so.
Your overall point's valid, I'm just a nitpicking ass.

Enjoy the trailer!

@LuFins-Dad LOL that is truth
Now that they are back to the dwarves (animated, where is the outrage from the midget community?), the movie looks extra animated... almost like they have real actors in a Roger Rabbit type of environment. The acting also looks broadway over-the-top, but who knows.......

dwarves
"Dwarfs"
"Dwarves" is Tolkien-speak.
ETA: And, I'm shocked that Disney used the word "dwarf" as opposed to "little people," which is the sensitive term, amirite? How did Kathleen Kennedy miss that? Good thing she's retiring.

Side-note...Vance is a Tolkien fan...

No, remember that Disney stepped in and made them pretty much redo the entire thing. I’m sure there will still be a little wokism in the movie, but nowhere near what it was going to be.
