MFR is out of town so tonight is bachelor night. All of which means I can fix something spectacular she would not like. Since I brought back a couple of my very favorite Oregon pinot noirs and have lots of cherries (my very favorite snack), I thought this was in order:
Seared duck breast with cherries and port wine.

I love cherries. But if I eat more than 2 I get the galloping twitches......

Looks great. I used our air fryer over the weekend for some delicious brined chicken, and today I'm using a similar brine to air fry some random frozen pork I found in the freezer. I'm using some good maple syrup for the sweet part of the brine.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble if you skip the duck and put the cherries in a big snifter and pour the wine over.

Not me. I can eat a couple cups at a sitting. Cherries, peaches, blueberries, blackberries. All yum.

I don't have one of those yet. Might consider it. Things turn out well?

We have been underwhelmed but the brined chicken was a high point. We tried fried chicken once and meh.

Stuck at work. I’ll grab a kickin chicken pizza and a beer from a local place with a nice big empty patio

It's 2 pm here, but the plan is for tri-tip and grilled veggies; leftover apple pie for dessert; and Legent whiskey to wash it all down with.

Once I had my nap I was not in the mood to cook a spectacular dinner so I went freezer diving. Found a ribeye cap roast I had forgotten about. Probably in there at least three years. Defrosted it, cut it into three 4 ounce steaks and pan seared one. Ambrosia.

Fried catfish, fried eggplant and tater salad.
Yeah, heart healthy. First thing I've had fried in two weeks....

Fried is not the same thing as unhealthy. It all depends how you fry it.
