>99.4% of all U.S. cities

Alexandria, Louisiana. Per 100,000, more murders than most cities in the country. Actually, I think the city makes the Top Ten for murder.
AFAIK, almost all is black-on-black crime.
When Mik talks about lifestyle, he's right.

It’s the culture. Has been for close to 100 years and has just gotten worse. Read Manchild In The Promised Land as I did in 8th grade. It’s about growing up in Harlem in the 40s, and 50s. Big eye opener, but it made me the most street smart kid in my town.

In a recent series of gun-related episodes on Malcom Gladwell's Revisionist History podcast, he outlines that often the murder rate isn't very accurate to compare cities as it really depends on the efficiency and quality of medical care. In other words, there might be more shootings in one town but if they have fast paramedic responses and Level 1 trauma centers, many of the shooting victims ultimately survive and therefore the homicide/murder rate decreases.

No. Not in my opinion.
A good Level 1 will occasionally save one, but if local care can just hit the decent level it's not going to be that many more.
One night I wound up squeezing blood bags in OR...I don't care if you're a surgeon with a big red S on your chest, you ain't saving somebody with a close range shotgun blast to the R kidney.
It's still about caliber, shot placement and number of hits.
