      Slightly related...

Mrs. George likes the Land 'o Lakes butter with canola oil. It stays spreadable when refrigerated so that's good.

But, it just doesn't taste quite the same as real butter.

      Convenient, but inferior.

Yeah we used the (costco) Golden Irish spreadable butter for years but it hasn’t been in stock recently so we’ve used the Land O Lakes one until now.

              Butter bell?

Yep, think I've heard of them...

Nope. No real need. A stick of butter stays good in a regular butter dish on the counter for ~ 2 weeks. I don’t know about you, but we use butter faster than that.

I think we did that growing up. I thought it's not supposed to be out more than 2 days or so?

Meh. Most of those guidelines are in CYA territory for the FDA. I’ve never had a stick of butter go longer than a week without being eaten, unless we’ve been on vacation, I’ve only ever thrown out a stick of butter once. That was when we got back from a 2 week trip.

There’s little protein or carbs in butter. Mold and bacteria don’t like it. We use unsalted, but I understand that salted will last even longer.
