People leaving Poland?
-
There's about 700,000 native born Poles in the UK alone. There was a massive influx in the early part of the 21st century after Poland joined the EU.
The more recent Polish nationalism is a bit distasteful, and some might say hypocritical, all things considered.

Btw @George-K my wife has Lithuanian heritage. But don’t ask her to name the capital of the country or even point it out on a map lol

In 2007 when I visited Ireland I was shocked by how many Polish folks had moved there for jobs. Everywhere! Not sure if it’s still like that.

According to Wiki, there's about 150,000 Poles in Ireland.
The EU is essentially open borders, but less face it nobody's going to go to Poland for work.
This nationalist grandstanding is a bit ludicrous.
Certain groups of Irish Americans have a habit of saying 'British out of Ireland', much to the amusement and embarrassment of the actual Irish people I know.

Looks like overall immigration to Poland is a net positive over the last 8 years

Not only Poland but notably Hungary and Slovakia as well. There are a lot of discussions and papers out there as to why. Personally, I think a lot of is due to the rapid change in those countries in last 30 plus years. Fast tracked membership into the EU has not made it easier for these countries to adapt. Oddly though it has been relatively easier for the Baltic states to adapt. Perhaps they have a greater historical incentive to assimilate into the EU since they live next door to the Bear.

At least my 2007 reference checks out a bit. Pretty good spike there.

I must admit I was surprised by the more recent numbers. Presumably some of the people emigrating to Poland are coming from the east? Brexit would also have had an effect for those living in the UK.

Looks as though the Kaczynski’s populist nationalist government there will not be forming another coalition this time.
