Ok, so assume Israel is successful and largely eliminates Hamas leadership.

      Then what?

      1. Do they re-occupy and administer?

      2. Hold another election? Remember that's how they got Hamas in 2006. (IIRC the election was held at GWB's insistence, but that's another thread for another day)

      3. Do they try to get the PNA (was PLO) to take it over? I'm not sure they would, as that would make them look like stooges.

      4. Do they accept Renauda's recommendation and find a Ramzan Kadyrov like figure?

What do you think will happen? (note that is distinct from what you would like to see happen)

Occupations are hard to do for the long haul. I'm guessing they occupy long enough to provide white knight cover for the PNA (better the devil you know scenario).

I don't see options other than occupation short of killing them all.

If you had a magic wand, the gaza strip should be overseen by some international organization. You have millions packed into a 5x25 mile area, half the residents are kids (under 17), unemployment is like 80% or something stupid like that, and there's no real way to get in or out. Honestly, I don't even know how they get water bottles.

The point is... as someone else said, sure we support "free palestine" but to finish the phrase, "free palestine from hamas." Let palestinians live in peace, give them economic opportunities, and remove their reliance on terrorist organizations for action.

I guess a smart kid born in Gaza can do well in school and get out by going to university and staying in the west. I guess the dumb kid born in Gaza is hopeless, similar, but to a greater degree, to a dumb kid born in an inner city in America.

            Education is extremely important.

Resettle Gazans throughout Israel, resettle some Israelis into Gaza, distribute and dilute them all geographically, no more concentration of Gazans in one place, all are Israelis citizens.

Jolly’s answer is probably what will happen. I can’t imagine they’d risk another election.

If you don't take it, it can only good happen.

The Gazans will all be living in the USA within 6 months.

We will accept them as citizens and encourage them to get elected to Congress.

                          They will accept the offer.

Problem is also the Palestinian authority is at its weakest with Abu Mazen about to shuffle off this mortal coil and then there will be a horrific struggle between fatah factions to gain control. They can’t run Gaza.

Maybe the key lies with Qatar. On one hand a sorta US ally. On the other hand deeply invested in Hamas. And overflowing with oil cash.

They can easily finance some sort of civil administration. Under US watchful eyes.

Israel will not consider taking civil control of Gaza.
