That would be interesting. Newsom had zero facts to back up his positions, relying only on “how DARE you challenge this humanitarian effort!” Said effort, of course, is essentially incarceration and forced meds for those who decline voluntary medication. He’s like a handsome, charming Nurse Ratchet.

That will be interesting. Gov. DeSantis has the "home field" advantage on Fox TV, but I think that Mr. Hannity will do everything to make sure that it is fair for both sides.

Hopefully, there will not be any live audience for it. I think that would make it better.

Yet another reason Newsom can't win. More incentive for fast food to go to robotics and AI.

        1. Not a bad thing for humanity for more menial, repetitive jobs to be automated.
        2. Tax the robot’s output; even Bill Gates said to tax the robots as far back in 2017.

Again, no. For the folks who are only capable of those jobs, they become screwed.

What's your option for them, UBI? Nevermind what that looks like in practice, 20 years on, ask Copper, Jolly and half the country whether they'll even let it happen.

          Please love yourself.

Worse, they will be idle. They have little sense of self-worth now, imagine if we destroy all of it. How long before we decide that they are a drag on the world and eliminate them? We need to strive for everyone to have a seat at the table.

Yes, some form of public subsidies, keep providing training until they can do things in a way that is better/cheaper than the robots, or they keep training; just keep paying them enough to not fall into destitute or turn to a life of crime. Heck, these incompetent workers can even spend time on creative pursuits, like creat art or music or literature; most will not be as commercially valuable as those generated by AI, but at least they will do no harm. No need for the general public to put up with substandard work products just to provide employment to incompetent workers.

It’s arguing the societal impact of the automated dishwasher or the washing machine again. Sure, automating dishwashing and laundry eliminated many menial jobs for low skilled workers, but overall better for humanity.

                  Triangulating...

                  https://apnews.com/article/unemployment-benefits-california-striking-workers-newsom-d934620ebe0eedc4579293edac2f9709

California won’t be giving unemployment checks to workers on strike, with Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom vetoing a bill Saturday that had been inspired by high-profile work stoppages in Hollywood and the hotel industry.

Newsom, a Democrat, says he supports workers and often benefits from campaign contributions from labor unions. But he said he vetoed this bill because the fund the state uses to pay unemployment benefits will be nearly $20 billion in debt by the end of the year.

“Now is not the time to increase costs or incur this sizable debt,” Newsom wrote in a veto message.

The fund the state uses to pay unemployment benefits is already more than $18 billion in debt. That’s because the fund ran out of money and had to borrow from the federal government during the pandemic, when Newsom ordered most businesses to close and caused a massive spike in unemployment. The fund was also beset by massive amounts of fraud that cost the state billions of dollars.

Have to pay the piper sooner or later. I wish Washington would figure this out.
